These collages stem from some observations, dreams and thoughts of mine about the interplay between pets, society, loneliness and environmental degradation.
The way we coddle our pets in North American society seems indicative of the distance we feel from the natural world. Dogs have been bred and created for our own enjoyment. The more distant we become from Nature the more fiercely we love our animals. At times it even seems we care for our animals more than we care for each other. I heard it said once, and maybe someone could verify this, that one third of the fish we pull out of the sea go to feed our cats. Isn't it something that we are depleting the oceans to feed our own contentment? Just some food for thought.
